My Acting Philosophy

I view acting as alchemy. It is the art of taking the energy gifted to me by an audience, a scene partner, or even the crew in the room, and transforming it to serve the story at hand. 

I dissect each character I sink my teeth into to find the deeply-rooted inner voice that motivates them. We live in a world where so many people turn away from their own shadows, allowing the fear of what they don't understand to stop them from finding strength in their truth.

By fearlessly embracing every aspect of my characters, by showing their unadulterated, complicated, sometimes ugly - yet always beautiful - humanity, I am giving the audience permission to compassionately examine their own inner truths, and hopefully find peace in self-knowledge. 

As a queer, Southern woman, I am particularly passionate about sharing stories that land in the intersections of these often misrepresented communities. With a strong background in devising and movement, new works are where my interests and talents effortlessly align.
